Is Princess Kate Trying to Tell Us She’s Pumped for the Barbie Movie?

[ad_1]

The palace hasn’t officially commented either way (the breath, it is bated), but it seems like Princess Kate has made it clear whose side she’s on in the great Oppenheimer vs. Barbie debate. Or maybe she just remembered that it’s Wednesday, and on Wednesdays, we wear pink.

No matter what pop culture references she may or may not have been making, there’s no question that Princess Kate had another really great pink fashion moment Wednesday at an event at the Young V&A Museum in London.

She spent the morning hanging out with kids at the newly revamped youth-focused branch of the Victoria & Albert Museum, on-message with her Shaping Us initiative and the Royal Foundation Centre of Early Childhood. The museum was formerly known as the Museum of Childhood and had an emphasis on being about children, while the renovation shifts the focus to being for children. It is set to reopen to the public this weekend, sharing its focus on play-based learning and exploration.

Tristram Hunt, director of the V&A, told People that Kate was patient and cheerful with the primary school-aged kids from Globe Primary School who showed her around the museum, regaling her with tales “chapter after chapter. She was very very generous listening to their stories.” He also said that she was “suitably responsive” to their many requests for hugs.

Princess Kate chose a soft pink midi-length Beulah dress for the event, which she paired with white high heels. Kate is known for her eco-friendly habit of rewearing items from her own closet, and this appearance was no different: she previously sported the look in 2021 at Wimbledon. Last month, she sported another blush-hued re-wear, in a pink McQueen power suit at another Shaping Us appearance.

We may not ever know whether Kate considers herself to be a Barbie girl in a Barbie world, or if she ever thinks about dying, but we can say for sure that this Wednesday, at least, she’ll be allowed to sit with the Plastics at lunch
