Instant Pot Egg Bites (Starbucks Egg Bites Recipe)

[ad_1]

If you’ve been wondering “how to make sous vide egg bites without a sous vide machine,” you’ve come to the right place. My Instant Pot Egg Bites, a copycat Starbucks Egg Bites recipe, was one of the first of its kind posted online!

Instant Pot Egg Bites

These Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites exude richness and creaminess and utilize the same ingredients listed on the Starbucks website. They are velvety, springy, and light and are loaded with bacon, cheese, and flavor. They taste just like the same thing without the carrageenan.

Keep in mind that nothing but utilizing an actual Sous Vide machine will duplicate the exact texture of the Starbucks version, but these Instant Pot Egg Bites get you pretty close.

Ingredients

This sous vide egg bites recipe is simple to make with only a few staple ingredients. Use leftovers to make my popular Caprese Frittata recipe.

Bacon: I highly recommend using regular bacon, but turkey bacon will also work.

Cheese: Starbucks utilizes Monterey Jack and Gruyère cheeses, but I’ve tested it with smoked gouda, pepper jack, and cheddar with success. Swiss cheese works, but I found the flavor to be lacking. Mix and match depending on what you have in your fridge.

Heavy Cream: Don’t have heavy cream or prefer to cut down on the calories? You can absolutely leave it out. I find the flavor is on par; however, it does help smooth out the texture to achieve that Sous Vide smoothness.

Cottage Cheese: If you detest cottage cheese, I’m here to tell you it’s used for its creamy texture and doesn’t provide flavor. You will never know it’s in there. If you still aren’t convinced, go ahead and use cream cheese. It wont be as light, but the flavor profile is consistent.

Starbucks Egg White Bites

You can make a yolk-free version of this recipe for egg bites. Just omit the yolks and replace them with an extra egg (5 egg whites total). Starbucks does have a healthier version called Egg White and Roasted Red Pepper. It’s a great combination to try.

Flavor Variations

Here are a few more combinations popular for breakfast recipes that would work for instant pot egg bites:

Meat: You can use a mix of these breakfast meat favorites: sausage, ham, bacon, and prosciutto. All work well with egg recipes.

Vegetarian: Omit the meat and replace with your favorite vegetables. Some great options include spinach, bell peppers, kale, green onions, and mushrooms. Mushroom egg bites are amazing!

Caprese Eggs Bites: to make a caprese version, throw in seeded and diced tomatoes, mozzarella, and fresh basil.

Broccoli: Use broccoli and cheese for a classic pairing.

Cacio de Pepe: Who doesn’t love anything related to Cacio de Pepe? Heavy up on the black pepper and parmesan cheese.

Spices: use your favorite spices to amp up the flavor even more. Think garlic powder, basil, thyme, kosher salt, etc.

How to Make Starbucks Egg Bites

Here’s how to make Instant Pot Egg Bites. See the recipe card below for the full recipe.

Cook the Bacon: Cook the bacon utilizing your favorite method. I prefer making bacon in the microwave vs the oven. I throw them on a microwave-safe plate, cover them with a paper towel, and nuke them for 3-4 minutes. I like my bacon crispy.

Blend The Egg Mixture: Add the rest of the ingredients to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.

Prep the Egg Bites: Add the bacon to the bottom of the container (mason jar or silicon baby food mold) and top with the egg mixture.

Cook: Bake in the Instant Pot for 8 minutes before letting natural pressure release for 10 minutes.

Serve: remove from the instant pot, let cool for a few minutes and serve.

Recipe Tips and Troubleshooting

  • Make sure to utilize your blender for a consistently smooth texture.
  • If you’re using mason jars or anything other than the silicone molds to make these bites, cooking spray is your friend! Make sure to grease the inside of your vessel so the eggs don’t stick.
  • Using the silicon trays, you’ll get seven egg bites out of the mixture. If you’re using the small mason jars, you’re looking at four.
  • I used Instant Pot Duo Plus to make these Starbucks Sous vide Egg Bites. You can use any model; no edits are required. I use it for all Instant Pot recipes.

Storage

Here’s how to store and reheat Instant Pot Egg Bites:

Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Freeze: Place in a freezer-safe bag and transfer to the freezer. They’re good for up to 3 months.

Reheat: Pop them in the microwave for 30-45 seconds.

Meal Prep: these are great for those who love meal planning. Make a batch on Sunday and enjoy them the entire week.
