WINTER RIVER, Conn. (WWLP) – How much would the home featured in the ‘Beetlejuice’ movie cost today to buy?

The Maitland’s from the original 1988 movie ‘Beetlejuice’ were vacationing in their country home in Winter River, Connecticut before they died in a car crash. Then the Deetz family bought it and started making renovations.

A fictional real estate listing was posted online stating the property has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, a large kitchen, a darkroom, a gateway to the afterlife, and two live-in ghosts, asking, ‘Are you a struggling artist looking to escape the big city life and draw inspiration from small town America?’.

In 1988, according to PlayPennsylvania.com the house would have cost just $172,101. Today, the cost has skyrocketed to $461,398. According to Zillow, the average home in Connecticut costs buyers $411,971, making the Maitland residence 12% more expensive despite it being haunted.

The sequel, ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ hit theaters Friday starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Jenna Ortega.
