How to Move Files or Folders Between Datastores in vCenter
[ad_1]
Read this guide to learn how to move files or folders from one datastore to another in vCenter.
In this guide, I will show how to move the folder, “ISO Images” from the datastore , iSCSIDatastore to IPMpVMw1-datastore-2.

Procedure
- Sign in to the vCenter web client, click the datastore node and select the source datastore.

- On the selected datastore’s details pane, check the checkbox to the left of the the folder of file you want to move. In this example, I want to move the “ISO Images” folder.
- Once the item is selected, on the top right of the datastore’s details pane, click MOVE TO.

- Finally, on the Select Destination pop-up, select the destination datastore to move the selected item and click OK.

You can monitor the progress of the item’s move by clicking the Recent Tasks pull out at the bottom of the page.

Conclusion
Moving items between datastores in vCenter is prety easy as I have shown in this guide. It is important to point out that you clould also copy items between datastores using the above steps.
The only difference is in step3, instead of selecting MOVE TO, you should select COPY TO.
