How the Park Fire is impacting other areas of the West Coast

(FOX40.COM) — Smoke from the Park Fire has been impacting air quality in Northern California since it exploded in size a week ago, but it now may affect weather in other parts of the west, according to the National Weather Service.
On Thursday morning, the National Weather Service station in Seattle issued a notice that smoke from the Park Fire and fires in Oregon could impact temperatures.
“If thick enough, the smoke could act like a shallow layer of cloud cover and would cause temperatures to decrease slightly,” NWS Seattle wrote.
An overview map from NOAA of the United States shows the smoke clouds moving across the west from fires in California and Oregon.
Smoke from the Park Fire can be seen drifting north and joining a larger cloud from Oregon. The plume can also be seen traveling west into northwest Nevada.
More locally, Park Fire smoke can be seen impacting Mineral, Susanville, Redding, Red Bluff and the remainder of northeast California.
The Sacramento area has recently only experienced a light level of surface-level smoke as winds continue to move in a northeast direction.
