Horseradish Butter

[ad_1]

Horseradish butter is a luxurious and flavorful condiment made with just a few simple ingredients: high-quality butter, horseradish, herbs, lemon juice, and sea salt.

Horseradish Butter

Horseradish butter is a gourmet compound butter made by blending creamy butter with horseradish. This butter with horseradish is often used as a finishing butter to enhance the flavor of dishes such as steaks, seafood, prime rib, eggs, and vegetables.

Making this homemade horseradish butter recipe takes only 10 minutes to mix up with an optional 20 minutes resting time for the flavors to meld. It’s as easy to make as my very popular Horseradish Sauce recipe.

Ingredients

While the ingredient list is short, it’s imperative to use high-quality ingredients to make the best version possible.

  • Room Temperature Unsalted Butter – Pure french butter or creamy Irish butter are ideal.
  • Horseradishfresh or prepared horseradish can be used.
  • Fresh Herbs
  • Lemon Juice – don’t skip this ingredient. The acidity brightens up the butter.
  • Fine Sea Salt
Ingredients to make compound butter.

Type of Horseradish To Use

There are a two different horseradish options you can use to make this compound butter: fresh or prepared. Use the one that’s best suited to your budget and availability.

Here’s a quick overview outlining the difference between prepared horseradish vs horseradish sauce vs fresh horseradish.

Horseradish Butter For Steak and Other Uses

Here are a few ways to use this butter on top of using this horseradish butter for steak:

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients to a small bowl and mash with a fork. You can also use a stand mixer or food processor to blend.

8 oz unsalted butter, softened, ½ tsp horseradish, freshly grated or prepared, 1 tsp chopped herbs

  • Taste and add extra horseradish and/or sea salt, to taste, if desired.

½ tsp sea salt, + more to taste

  • Optional: Let the butter rest on the counter for 20 minutes to meld the flavors. It's now ready to use.

Notes

Note 1 – Use high-quality butter, if possible.
Note 2 –  Fresh thyme, rosemary, basil, oregano and chives are all great options.
