Homicide investigation blocks both directions of SR 7 in Parkland

Officials say a man was pronounced dead at the scene near 118th Street and Pacific Avenue.
PARKLAND, Wash. — A homicide investigation is blocking state Route 7 in both directions in Parkland.
According to Sgt. Darren Moss with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, a man was found dead at the scene near 118th Street and Pacific Avenue.
SR 7 is blocked in both directions south of state Route 512 near 118th Street. According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, this will be “a lengthy closure.” Drivers are urged to use alternate routes and avoid the area.
A gun was found on the ground at the scene, along with multiple unspent rounds and shell casings, according to Moss. No suspect has been identified, but they are believed to have left the scene in a vehicle.
