Hippie PSA: Kombucha and You

Guys, I have had the suspicion for a while that kombucha stored in aluminum cans is a bad idea. Acids corrode soft metals. They will say, oh but we paint a nice layer of weird cheminal polymer on there so it should not do that. Well, guess what, both of those things end up in your kombucha because the polymer is porous and soft metals corrode in acidic substances. LOOK IT UP, HOT FRESH STUDIES OUT THERE. Polymer alum tea, anyone? If I were you, I’d stick to your local GLASS brands, hippies and tea lovers! Or better yet, maybe it is time to start a SCOBY family of your own 🙂 Don’t get me STARTED on the plastic-y coating in coffee cups. B Y O
