Help Western North Carolina through Operation Airdrop – drop off supplies in Concord – Charlotte On The Cheap

Operation Airdrop is an organization that delivers essential reach those affected by disasters, when traditional ground transportation is impossible or delayed.

Operation Airdrop, by the numbers:

  • 13 disaster relief missions
  • 1,000+ flights operated during the missions
  • 650,000+ pounds of supply donations transported
  • 3,000+ volunteers across the U.S. and Canada

Their new focus is Western North Carolina, which has been devastated by the flooding and landslides caused by Hurricane Helene. Entire communities have been isolated, due to roads being washed away, and they are in need of supplies as they await repairs to the infrastructure.

The staging area has been announced — it will be the Concord Regional Airport. Drop off supplies at the Walmart near the airport, which SHOULD be 5825 Thunder Rd NW, Concord, North Carolina.

Helping Hurricane Helene Communities

Operation Airdrop has created a landing page for Operation Helene. The mission focuses on delivering essential supplies, hot meals and support to the communities affected by the storm.

There are several ways you can help.

If you are a pilot who has access to an aircraft, you can fly with Operation Airdrop to deliver supplies. Register.

The staging location and airport will be announced soon. You can volunteer to help at the staging area. Register.

You can drop off items to be transported to the NC mountains.

  • Hydration packs (powder form)
  • Baby wipes
  • Diapers (children and adults)
  • Baby formula
  • Bug spray
  • Sunscreen
  • Plastic utensils
  • Manual can openers
  • Trash bags (13 gallon or contractor bags)
  • Non-perishable foods
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Plastic sheeting/tarps
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Toiletries/sanitation items
  • Pet food (dog and cat)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Sanitizer wipes
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Heavy duty work gloves
  • Socks (all sizes, unopened)

These items can not be accepted:

  • Used clothes
  • Water (due to weight)
  • HAZMAT
  • Most chemicals (including bleach)
  • Fuel
  • Flammable items
