Investigators also noticed suspicious substances and equipment used in clandestine labs, according to Cleveland police.

Hazmat crews and the Cleveland Police Department Bomb Squad were dispatched to the apartment, where bomb squad technicians confirmed substances inside were hazardous.

Technicians worked to clear the hazardous materials and Hazmat crews decontaminated them.

Fire officials then recovered the body from the apartment. The man’s identity and cause of death are awaiting results from the medical examiner’s office.

Cleveland firefighters took to social media earlier, asking residents to avoid the area while they were clearing the scene.
