CLEVELAND (WJW) – Cleveland Guardians’ second baseman Andres Gimenez and left fielder Steven Kwan have each earned 2024 Rawlings Gold Glove Awards for the third consecutive year.

Major League Baseball and the Rawlings Sporting Goods Company announced the awards Sunday evening.

According to a press release from the Cleveland Guardians, Gimenez led all American League fielders with 20 defensive runs saved. He also finished second in the AL with a defensive bWAR(#) of 2.7, which ranked as the 10th-highest single-season fielding mark in club history.

Gimenez led Major League second basemen in total chances (638), assists (396) and double plays (93) while also leading all MLB fielders with 21 outs above average, the release said.

Gimenez now joins Roberto Alomar, who played for Cleveland from 1999-2001, as the only Cleveland second basemen to win three Rawlings Gold Gloves, the release said.

According to the Guardians, Kwan finished fourth among AL left fielders in defensive runs saved (10) and second with 9 outfield assists. He has also become Cleveland’s first outfielder since Kenny Lofton, who played from 1993-1996, to win three straight Rawlings Gold Gloves.

He also leads all MLB left fielders with 24 outs above average, 47 defensive runs saved and 22 outfield assists since 2022.
