Guardians closer signs with Finlete, allowing fans to invest in his career earnings

CLEVELAND (WJW) – A new company that allows fans to invest in athlete’s earnings signed a big-time name to its roster.

Emmanuel Clase, the Guardians two-time all star who is looking to be the first-ever player to lead the majors in saves in three straight seasons, signed with Finlete.

Just last week, fans were able to go to Finlete’s website and start investing in Clase’s career earnings and his potential future earnings.

Clase is just the second athlete to sign with Finlete, which gave them a big-time star as the face of their brand as they try to grow it.

Ryan Connolly and Max Eisenberg are the co-founders of the company.

“You look at the IRR’s (internal rate of return) of these athletes, it’s insane the amount of returns you could get if these athletes work out,” Connolly said. “It’s really an interesting space for people who are looking to diversify their portfolio, or people who are really looking to have a closer fan engagement experience with their favorite athletes.”

Finlete is primarily focused on baseball but does hope to expand to other sports.

On Finlete’s website, they lay out how it works, how much you could make by investing, and have answers for frequently asked questions about the process.

They say making these investments gives fans a front row seat to an athlete’s journey and gets them involved emotionally and financially.

With Finlete, fans will receive exclusive content, access to events and get to know the athletes in ways other fans can’t.

“You buy a stock in the stock market, you get no interaction with Apple or Walmart. It’s a very hands-off experience, right? With Finlete, you’re investing in the careers of athletes and getting engagement with them,” Eisenberg explained. “I think like all fans of [Clase’s], and like him, we are incredibly excited about his trajectory and his accomplishments, and like you said, he’s on course to be one of the best ever, if not the best ever, at his position.”

Connolly and Eisenberg will be in Cleveland this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the final home series for the Guardians. They’ll be at The Thirsty Parrott near the ballpark answering questions.
