The Global Poker Celebrity Challenge is now underway and is starting off strong with the Paul George Celebrity Campaign, giving players a chance to play against the NBA star on the social poker site.
The Paul George Celebrity Campaign runs Sept. 19-27, featuring a series of Sweeps Coin qualifiers where Global Poker players have a chance to play against George.
The Paul George Celebrity Campaign – Qualifier 1 [Turbo] will take place at 8:30 p.m. ET, and similar qualifiers will take place each day until the Paul George Celebrity Campaign – Final on Sept. 27.
Additionally, George will challenge fellow NBA pro Karl-Anthony Towns to a heads-up poker battle that will see the winner donating $10,000 to a charity of their choice, with all donations being funded by Global Poker.
Others participating in the Global Poker Celebrity Challenge, which runs Sept. 18-Nov. 13, include Olympic superstar Michael Phelps and legendary music producer DJ Khaled.

George has played poker with Towns in the past but said he is looking forward to playing with DJ Khaled.
“I started playing poker when I first got to the NBA on team plane rides – it was a great bonding experience between my team and I … (and now) Global Poker makes it easy to play on the go,” George said in a Global Poker press release.
The Karl-Anthony Celebrity Campaign will kick off on Oct.3, while the Michael Phelps Celebrity Campaign will follow on Oct. 16 before the DJ Khaled Celebrity Campaign wraps things up beginning Oct. 31.
