CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police union called out Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for allegedly silencing officers, who are still waiting for their outer carrier vests.

It has been three months since the decision to allow officers to where outer carrier vests. The president of the Fraternal Order of Police in charlotte, Dan Redford, says a majority of CMPD officers not only do not have the new vests, but they haven’t even been fitted for them.
The Fraternal Order of Police president says they have pressed the police department about the vests. Redford claims Chief Johnny Jennings has retaliated by shutting out the Fraternal Order.

“Now here that we’ve won, we still don’t have these vests. There are very, very few officers that have actually had this vest issued to them. They say it’s a it’s a manufacturer issue,” Redford said.

CMPD has not yet responded to questions from WCCB about silencing employees. WCCB has requested the number of outer vests given to officers.
