Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd reunited on October 9 while attending the Back to the Future Reunion Panel at Comic-Con in New York. Like in the films, Fox leaned on Lloyd as he revealed his beloved mother, Phyllis, had died two weeks prior.
As he recalled their time together, Fox let slip that Phyllis had never wanted him to do Back to the Future at age 23 as she was concerned filming would tire him out. At the time, Fox was also starring in the hit sitcom Family Ties.
“I live for this kind of tired. It’ll be OK,” he recalled telling her, per People. “To this day – well, till two weeks ago – my mother thought it was a really bad idea for me to do Back to the Future. She loved the movie, [but she was right], I got tired.”
