It has been a while since we visited the beautiful Puerto Rican garden of Antigonum Cajan (Filling a Small Garden With Diversity). Today we are looking at some more images of this small garden space that is packed with incredible biodiversity.
One of the secrets to making the most of a small garden space is growing things up—vines and shrubs up the walls around the garden to fill every inch with life.
Plumaria are native to the tropical Americas but are widely grown in warm climates around the world for their beautiful and incredibly fragrant flowers.
Closer look at a pink-flowered plumeria
This garden wall is topped with rubber vine (Cryptostegia grandiflora), which is native to Madagascar and combines dark glossy green foliage with wonderful pink flowers. The cactus growing up through the vine looks like it could be dragon fruit (Selenicereus undatus).

Here is another beautiful plumaria, its soft pink shading to yellow at the center. In their native climates, plumaria tend to go dormant and drop all or most of their leaves in the cooler months, then push out new leaves and flowers as the weather warms. Here you can see the new flowers and fresh new leaves emerging together.
Gloriosa lily (Gloriosa superbum) comes from tropical and southern Africa and grows as a small vine topped with these incredible flowers.
The fresh foliage and flowers of this plumaria look marvelous backed by a vine-covered fence.
