Florida State claims victory over Stetson during NCAA regional opener in Tallahassee

The Knights took the lead five times in this game, including a game-winning, pinch-hit RBI single from Andrew Sundean in the top of the ninth.The win was UCF’s first in the NCAA Tournament since 2012. Jack Zyska, a transfer from Notre Dame, was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI in the win. UCF advances to play Florida State on Saturday at 5 pm. Alabama will face elimination when they take on Stetson at noon. UCF head coach Rich Wallace will now race his former boss, Florida State head coach Link Jarrett. Wallace was an assistant at FSU last season and before that at Notre Dame under Jarrett.Wallace is the first UCF Knight to appear in the NCAA Tournament as a player, assistant, and head coach.

The Noles will next be in action on Saturday night in the 5 p.m. game.
