Feeling Like June Soon – WCCB Charlotte’s CW

[ad_1]

The primary threats in Monday’s storms will be gusty winds and damaging hail, but a spin-up or two can’t be ruled out to the east.

Clouds and isolated showers have kept this second day of June on the cooler side, but you may have noticed the sharp rise in humidity. It’s going to feel like summer again soon as temperatures do the same. Expect highs to soar into the mid-to-upper 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills Monday afternoon, with only a few isolated pop-up storms left to cool us down. The Queen City hasn’t reached 90° in 2024 so far, but it looks like that streak is in serious jeopardy. The middle three days of the workweek ahead will all have a crack at the big 9-0 in Charlottte.

Storm chances will hang around the stray-to-isolated range through Wednesday morning before becoming more scattered later in the day as a rainmaking system approaches from the west. Nothing in the model guidance suggests severe weather, but we’ll want to stay weather-wise late Wednesday into early Thursday. Next weekend is looking gorgeous right now, with highs near 80° to go along with much drier air and abundant sunshine.

Tonight: Scattered storms becoming less numerous overnight. Low: 66°. Wind: S 5-10.

Monday: Variable clouds with a few pop-up storms. High: 87°. Wind: SW 5-10.

Monday Night: Mostly clear. Mild. Low: 68°. Wind: Light.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny with a stray storm or two. High: 90°. Wind: SW 5-10.
