[ad_1]
The Federal Transit Authority, known as the FTA, launched its investigation into SEPTA in August of 2023 , after repeat bus and trolley crashes in Philadelphia which led to the death of one person and injured 25 people.
The FTA officially concluded its investigation of SEPTA in January.
“The Philadelphia Inquirer” reported that, a report released on Monday by the regulatory agency, found at least 24 corrective actions needed to be taken in line with its Safety Management Inspection list.
SEPTA has been ordered to fix issues regarding safety aboard their public transit vehicles.
In the investigation, issues such as staffing shortages led to excessive mandatory overtime, causing fatigued workers.
FTA reported that SEPTA has not conducted regular performance evaluations and that it does not provide enough support to new vehicle operators.
SEPTA has reported that it has already started to take measures to prevent accidents by having their operators take what it calls safety refresher trainings.
According to the Federal Transit Authority , SEPTA must prepare action plans to complete required changes, including deadlines and benchmarks, within 60 days.
