Factory orders increase in April

New orders of manufactured goods increased $4.3 billion or 0.7% from the prior month to $588.2 billion in April, the Commerce Department said today. Shipments of manufactured goods increased $5.9 billion or 1% to $590.2 billion, while inventories increased $900 million or 0.1% to $858.3 billion.
