SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Pop star Taylor Swift briefly took over the post-debate news cycle on Tuesday night when she publicly endorsed Kamala Harris for president. In a social media post in the immediate aftermath of the debate, Swift said she would be “casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.”

“I’m voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” she continued. “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”

Swift also made mention of former President Donald Trump posting AI falsely suggesting she’d endorsed him. In a reference to a viral 2021 clip of Trump running mate JD Vance, Swift signed her post, which included a picture of her holding a cat, “Taylor Swift Childless Cat Lady.”

This seemed to have elicited a response from Elon Musk.

“Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” wrote Musk on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter that he owns.

Musk’s apparent unsolicited offer to impregnate was widely branded as “creepy” and “weird” by social media users.

“So this is what ick looks like,” one user tweeted in response.

“This is so weird man,” tweeted another.

“You are creepy and weird,” a third user tweeted.

“Dude. Creepy.” simply read another response.

Although he said he voted for President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris in 2020, Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has emerged as a vocal supporter of former President Trump’s campaign. The former president has also floated the idea of a role for Musk in the administration should he be successful in recapturing the White House.
