Owners and brothers Fernando and Eduardo Salgado were already successful with four food trucks that serve all over the Seattle area, but a physical location was always a dream. Now it is a reality.

The location in White Center seats 73 people and on all the walls large screens will feature soccer, football, UFC and many other sports.

Serving a remarkably wide variety of Mexican dishes (most of the recipes come from their mother, Doris Selgado who was raised in Mexico City) El Gran Taco offers some house specialties they recommend such as Cocktail De Camaron-  A special broth of Shrimp. with onions, tomato, Avocado and Cilantro, Carne Asada- Skirt steak flame broiled and served with rice, beans, guacamole and house Pico De Gallo and their most popular Street Tacos (Tacos Callejeros) available in Grilled Beef, Marinated Pork, Chicken Shredded Pork, Mexican Sausage and Birria.

Remarkably they also serve Halal food to serve the Muslim community, plus offer vegetarian and gluten items on the menu. “We want to accommodate everyone so if there’s nothing you see on the menu, we will make something up for you,” said Fernando.

The brothers who were born in the United States literally got started in business with their father who operated a successful Bouncy House rentals business in Seattle. They did well enough to open their first food truck in 2019 then another soon after and as they grew, began offering catering, still a big part of their business. The pandemic shut them down for a little while but then one HOA in Covington near Kent brought in the truck and they were back in business. They now have four trucks, two in fixed locations in Wallingford and the Central District all doing well they said. They have catered events for Microsoft, Space X and other large companies. They are open weekdays from 11am to 9pm but on weekends they will offer something unique to the community, a street side fresh taco stand serving Tacos al pastor—made from marinated pork that’s been roasted on a vertical spit.  It will operate from 4pm to 11pm.

El Gran Taco will offer a full bar and will feature Corona, Modelo and Heineken beers.

Not set up just yet but coming soon will be relationships with food delivery companies. In the meantime you can visit them online at https://elgrantacoseattle.com/home.php
