CONOVER, N.C. – Eight students were treated with minor injuries after a North Carolina activity bus was sideswiped by a car on the highway in Catawba County on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened around 3:20 p.m. on Interstate 40 East near mile marker 129.
Police say two vehicles traveling east on I-40 struck each other, causing one of the cars to sideswipe an activity bus from Stokes County.
Officials say there were 33 students on board the activity bus when it was hit. Eight students were treated on-scene with minor injuries.
Both drivers were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. They were charged with unsafe movement related to the crash.
The activity bus driver will not be charged, authorities said.
