Drunk driver kills pedestrian in San Joaquin County

(FOX40.COM) — A pedestrian was pronounced dead after being hit by an alleged drunk driver in San Joaquin County on Thursday night, according to the Lodi Police Department.

Around 9:40 p.m., LPD officers said they responded to the intersection of Cherokee Lane and Elm Street in Lodi for a report of a vehicle that hit a pedestrian man. He was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police said the driver of the involved vehicle, a 49-year-old man, remained at the scene of the crash and was found to be driving under the influence. He was arrested for alleged DUI, vehicular manslaughter, and other felony-related charges.
