Driver found dead with gunshot wound in head-on Spanaway crash

SPANAWAY, Wash. — Pierce County authorities are investigating after a woman was found dead with a gunshot wound following a collision in Spanaway early Wednesday morning.
The department said two cars struck each other head-on at low speeds. One of the drivers reportedly told deputies the other driver was unconscious.
The department said the deputies found the driver, a woman, with a gunshot wound and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives and forensic investigators arrived on scene and the investigation is ongoing. The SWAT team was also called to the scene to search the area for any possible suspects or evidence.
Authorities ask anyone with information on the incident to contact the sheriff’s department.
The Washington State Department of Transportation said SR 704 is closed until further notice due to the investigation.
