CAPE CORAL, Fla. — One person was found with a head contusion after driving into a Cape Coral canal Thursday.

Firefighters received a call at 3 a.m. regarding a red car inside a canal.

Temperatures in Southwest Florida were below 60 degrees Wednesday night. Cape Coral Firefighters responded to the intersection of Skyline Boulevard and Mohawk Parkway in the early chilly morning to look for the driver.

After entering the water with dry suits, firefighters noticed that the car was empty.

Moments later the driver was found walking six blocks away from the crash all wet and with a head contusion. The driver was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Cape Coral Police Department is investigating the crash.
