Doug McDermott talks about joining Sacramento Kings, familiarity with Domantas Sabonis

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) – Following Friday’s practice, new Kings forward Doug McDermott talks about his new opportunity with the team, how him landing with Sacramento, his familiarity of playing alongside Domantas Sabonis in Indiana, what he hopes to offer the team and getting his first action in the previous night’s preseason loss to the Clippers in Los Angeles.

The Kings went 0-5 in their preseason schedule following Thursday’s 113-91 loss to the Clippers.

McDermott, 32, signed with Sacramento on Wednesday ahead of the preseason finale in LA.

The Kings also trimmed their roster on Friday, waiving guard Boogie Ellis, forward Terry Taylor and guard Brodric Thomas.

Shareef O’Neal, the son of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal participated in practice with the Kings on Friday. He, along with Antoine Davis and Drew Timme are expected to join G League Stockton.

The Kings will tip-off the 40th NBA season in Sacramento on Thursday when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves at Golden 1 Center.
