De La Soul’s Back Catalog Is Coming to Streaming Services in 2023

De La Soul’s entire back catalog is finally coming to streaming services. After a decades-long legal battle, the group has announced that their music will hit digital providers on March 3, 2023, which marks the 34th anniversary of their 1989 debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising. “It’s been 20 plus years overdue, but finally, we are here,” Maseo said in a press statement.
De La Soul’s classic LPs didn’t arrive on streaming initially due to complications around licensing and sample clearance issues that led to a dispute with their label, Warner Records. Two years after De La Soul’s discography was purchased by Tommy Boy Records in 2017, the group suggested their albums would see a digital release, which ended up delayed due to a royalties dispute that was resolved when Tommy Boy was acquired by Reservoir in 2021.
De La Soul’s last album, And the Anonymous Nobody…, arrived in 2016.
