Crews respond to fire at Community Baptist Church in Newport, no injuries reported

Crews responded to a fire at Community Baptist Church in Carteret County on Friday night.

The fire took place at 7648 Highway 70, Newport.

There have been no reported injuries, although some people were in the building for a youth activity at the time.

The pastor said in a live Facebook video that he believes the fire may have started due to a car catching fire in the parking lot.

The church still plans to meet on Sunday and will update everyone once the details are finalized.
