Designed by Daniel Mitchell for Awekeys, the Copper Eagle keycap set is a series of mechanical keyboard keycaps made entirely out of metal—just not all copper—they’re cupronickel (a copper and nickel alloy) and electroplated with copper. But will they make my fingers smell like pennies? That’s what I want to know because I do not like that smell.

The standard set comes with 116 keys and is available for $189. All the keys feature an open MX stem so that they can be used with a variety of different mechanical keyboard switch types. For an additional cost, you can also get five novelty keys with eagle imagery to REALLY spice up your keyboard. My keyboard? It’s spicy enough, primarily because of all the dropped Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. There’s a lot of red dust in there.

Based on the video, the movement is smooth and the sound satisfying, with just a hint of metallic tinkling—just enough to remind you the keys are metal. Plus, they’re cool to the touch. Which, I think we can all agree, is worlds better than sticky to the touch.
