Conor McGregor accused of raping woman at NBA finals game

Mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Miami after an NBA game where he earlier sent a mascot to the hospital with a swift combination of punches.

McGregor denies he “violently” attacked the alleged victim on June 9, according to TMZ. His accuser told police the incident occurred in a men’s bathroom at the Kaseya Center, shortly after the Denver Nuggets defeated the hometown Miami Heat.

A lawyer for McGregor’s accuser claims the fighter’s security team helped keep the alleged victim in the stadium bathroom, refusing to “let [the woman] exit or allow anyone else, including her friend, inside the bathroom” as the 34-year-old fighter forced himself on her.

McGregor “shoved his tongue in the victim’s mouth and aggressively kissed her,” the woman’s attorney claims.

The woman stalled McGregor by telling him she had to urinate, her legal letter claims. He’s accused of then forcing her to perform oral sex on him and attempting to sodomize her.

The alleged victim said she was able to get free, but then had to beg McGregor to give her back the purse she’d accidentally left behind.

Representatives for the mercurial Irish former champion reportedly called claims against their client false.

“Mr. McGregor will not be intimidated,” they defended.

The Miami Heat said in a statement the team was aware of the allegations and would withhold further comment until an investigation was complete. The UFC expressed the same sentiment regarding claims against their fighter.

McGregor provided entertainment for basketball fans before the game by sparring with Heat mascot Burnie, who he dropped with a left hook, then punched again after the costumed fireball character hit the ground. According to the Atlantic, the person inside that outfit was treated in a south Florida emergency room after the publicity stunt proved a bit extreme.

It’s been two years since McGregor last stepped into the octagon, but he’s expressed interest in returning to the sport should the right matchup come along.
