CONCORD, N.C. – A man was arrested after reportedly shooting a juvenile on Thursday, according to a news release.
Officers with the Concord Police Department responded to a shooting on Kite Court Northeast. Upon arrival officers say they located one juvenile victim with an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was transported the hospital where they were reported to be in stable condition.
Further investigation revealed 54-year-old Ruben Rodriguez as the suspect. Rodriguez initially fled the scene in a vehicle but was later located and arrested at his residence.
Rodriquez has been charged with the following:
- Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury
- Two counts of firearm by felon
- One count off possession of stolen firearm
The preliminary investigation indicates this incident was not a random shooting and the suspect and victim are acquainted.
Rodriquez is currently being held at the Cabarrus County Jail on $500,000 secured bond.
