CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A college student is using her small business to give back to the community she calls home. Identity Thrift has opened its doors and is giving away free clothing to those in need.

A group of UNC Greensboro students have brought affordable fashion to East Charlotte’s Milton Road. Identity Thrift is a small business created by 19-year-old Sanai Bobbitt.

Bobbitt says she usually sells her clothing online, but has gathered some of her classmates to open a pop-up shop for this weekend only so that she can give away some of her inventory completely free of charge.

Bobbit says she is using her mother’s office as a temporary storefront where she is giving away clothing for men, women, and children. She has tops, bottoms, and shoes and is even accepting donations in an effort to help the less fortunate.

“I’ve just always been a really helpful person,” Bobbit said. “”I’ve been given everything that, like, you know, I need. So, I kind of just want to give back and, you know, do the same for others.”

Identity Thrift will open again on Sunday from 2p.m. to 5p.m.
