Children and a Year of War

[ad_1]

Note to teachers: We will be publishing more resources for teaching about Ukraine in coming days.

Early on the morning of Feb. 24, 2022, in Ukraine, Russian troops poured over the border, and Russian planes and missile launchers attacked Ukrainian cities and airports, and the largest land war in Europe since World War II began.

On this anniversary, we invite you to focus on the young people of Ukraine by looking through a photo essay, “A Time for War, A Time for Play,” published last August.

What do you notice? What do you wonder? What additional questions do these photos raise for you about how the war has affected the lives of Ukrainian children and teenagers?

Tell us in the comments, then you might read some of these related pieces about Ukrainian young people to learn more:

Students 13 and older in the United States and Britain, and 16 and older elsewhere, are invited to comment. All comments are moderated by the Learning Network staff, but please keep in mind that once your comment is accepted, it will be made public and may appear in print.
