Chase Ink Business Preferred Review

The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card is one of the best options when it comes to credit cards for small-business owners who value Ultimate Rewards points. Plus your points are worth 25% more when you redeem for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards and even more when you transfer points to leading frequent travel programs.

Check out the pros and cons of the Ink Business Preferred® credit card and the full review below.

Pros

Cons

✅ Best ever bonus of 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points with $8K spend. ❌ Annual fee
✅ 3x on select categories ❌ No intro APR
✅ No foreign transaction fee.

Welcome Offer

Chase Ink Business Preferred is currently offering its best ever bonus of 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $8,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That’s $1,000 cash back or $1,250 toward travel when redeemed through Chase Ultimate Rewards. Learn how to apply.

What makes this bonus even better is the fact than you can transfer your Ultimate Rewards points to travel partners and get an average value of at least $1,600.

Chase Ink Business

Earning Rewards

The Chase Ink Business Preferred credit card earns 3 points per $1 on the first $150,000 spent in combined purchases on shipping purchases, advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines, Internet, cable and phone services, and travel each account anniversary year. Plus you earn un unlimited 1 point per $1 on all other purchases you make with your card.

There’s also a limited time promotion where you earn a total of 5x total points on Lyft rides through March 2025.

Using Rewards

The Chase Ink Business Preferred credit card earn Ultimate Rewards which we value on average about 1.6 cents each. This card also unlocks more value for all your Ultimate Rewards points since it gives you the ability to transfer on a 1:1 ratio to a dozen popular airline and hotel loyalty programs. So for example you can earn 5X at Office Supply stores with your Chase Ink Business Cash card and then transfer those points to travel partners if you have the Chase Ink Business Preferred credit card or other premium Chase cards. To do this, the two cards must be in the same name, or members of the same household.

You can also redeem points for cash-back, gift cards, or other options such as Amazon Shop with Points. But especially the latter doesn’t yield a good redemption value outside of the frequent promotions.

But again the real value is with travel partners. Here are all the eligible partners and the transfer ratios:

Partner Ratio
Aer Lingus 1:1
Air Canada Aeroplan 1:1
British Airways Executive Club 1:1
Emirates 1:1
Flying Blue (Air France / KLM) 1:1
JetBlue 1:1
Iberia Plus 1:1
IHG Rewards Club 1:1
Marriott Bonvoy 1:1
Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer 1:1
Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards 1:1
United Airlines MileagePlus 1:1
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club 1:1
World of Hyatt 1:1

You can easily transfer points online and most transfers are instant. Just keep in mind that once you transfer point to a travel partner, it can not be reversed.

Other Benefits

The Chase Ink Business Preferred can easily be your go to card for purchases abroad. It doesn’t charge any foreign transaction fees, and is part of the Visa network, which means that it is broadly accepted by merchants worldwide.

It also offers other valuable benefits which make it a good pick for small business owners who travel often. The card comes with trip cancellation and interruption insurance, which reimburses you up to $5,000 per trip when your trip is canceled due to sickness, severe weather conditions and more. The card’s primary rental car coverage reimburses you when a car rented for business purposes is damaged or stolen. You have to pay for your trip and car rental with the card to qualify for these benefits.

But protections extend beyond travel. The Ink Business Preferred Card offers purchase protection and extended warranty protection. Purchase protection covers new purchases for 120 days against damage or theft at up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per account. Extended warranty protection extends the period of a U.S. manufacturer’s warranty by an additional year on eligible warranties of three years or less.

The card also has cell phone protection. It pays up to $600 per claim for damage or theft of cell phones. This covers you and your employees as long as the bill is paid using your card. There’s a maximum of three claims in a 12-month period, with a $100 deductible for each claim.
