Black signed a two year two-way contract with the Hornets last summer. With how injury riddled the Hornets were, Black actually appeared more times with the Hornets than he did with the Swarm. As the Tweet notes, he averaged a modest 2.7 points and 1.8 rebounds per game in mostly mop up duty, though he did start three games. In those games, he averaged 3.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 23 minutes per contest. His numbers were similarly modest in the G League.
Black has a chance to be a role player in the NBA, but the Hornets seem to want more production or upside out of their two-way players. Black is 25 now, and heβs clearly never going to have the aggression required to become an offensive threat in the NBA.
The Hornets now have one open roster spot and one open two-way spot to fill before the start of the season in October.
