Carrie Underwood Issues Warning To Parents About Allowing Kids To Watch ‘Too Much TV’

The country music star Carrie Underwood is speaking out this week to warn parents everywhere about the dangers of allowing their children to watch too much television.

Underwood Talks Parenting

Underwood, 40, shares two young sons ages 8 and 4 with her NHL star husband Mike Fisher, and while appearing on the TODAY Show recently, she admitted that it’s not easy raising children in the digital age.

“It’s such a battle, right? Even television… I notice if they kind of watch too much TV, like they have an attitude shift. And I’m like ‘Why are you moody? What are we doing? Oh…,’” she said.

Underwood went on to confess that monitoring how much content her sons ingest is “a struggle,” adding that she’s also worried about cellphones, which she wants to keep her boys away from for “as long as possible.”

Thankfully, the school that Underwood sends her sons to in Nashville, Tennessee takes a proactive approach when it comes to technology.

“There’s been like a whole grassroots initiative within their school and a bunch of parents getting together and discussing how we can keep our kids kind of away from technology,” she stated. “Especially like social media and stuff like that, as long as possible.”

Underwood’s sons have only recently realized just how famous their mother is.

“They have seen me on stage and I feel like the first time my oldest, especially, kind of started having ideas was when his friends would say something and it’s like, ‘Oh, that’s different? I didn’t know that that wasn’t normal,’” she explained. “So they would come home and be like, ‘They said they saw you on TV.’”

Underwood’s ‘Double Life’

Earlier this year, Underwood told Vegas Magazine that she lives a “double life.”

“I love my role as a mom and wife,” Underwood explained. “In addition to what I get to do on stage, I go to baseball practice.

“It’s wonderfully ordinary, and I love that,” she added. “In a lot of ways, I lead a double life. I’m mom at home, and then I fly away to Vegas or to go on tour.”

After the birth of her first son back in 2015, Underwood talked about how motherhood “changed” her.

“I definitely feel like it’s changed me as a person,” she told Redbook Magazine in 2016. “I’m happier. I’m in a better mood a lot of the time. He’ll be watching cartoons and I’ll be watching him. I’m completely in love. I love it when he’s sleepy and I get to hold him and smell him. He doesn’t know I’m staring at him and being all googly-eyed!”

Underwood Extends Vegas Residency

Underwood’s still as busy with her career as ever, and she recently extended her Las Vegas residency REFLECTION with 18 new shows.

“Big news for 2024!! I’m so excited to share that #REFLECTION will be continuing at @resortsworldtheatre next year beginning in March,” Underwood wrote on Instagram. “We love performing this show for everyone visiting from all over the world, and if you haven’t seen it yet, come see us!”

Underwood has long been one of the most down to earth celebrities out there. Parents everywhere will certainly be able to relate to her fears about raising her sons in the digital age, but it seems like she’s doing a good job with it!
