Saturday’s game between Colorado and Baylor was the start of a new era for the Buffs, but also a return to their old home.
CU’s last season in the Big 12 Conference was 2010, joining the Pac 12 Conference the following year. More than a decade later, the Buffs opened up Big 12 play once again, and fans on campus are excited for the future.
“Walking through the campus, people are psyched,” says one fan.
Psyched to kick off Big 12 play for the first time in 14 years by hosting the Baylor Bears. For some fans, the new conference means a larger stage.
“In a bigger league with a bigger team, bigger coach, all that kind of stuff, it feels very good,” said one fan.
A bigger league with bigger stakes.
“Very, very excited to be back where they care about football it seems like,” said another fan.
With a new conference, however, come new challenges.
“It’s pretty cool. Probably a lot more tougher games than last year,” said one fan.
While some fans are happy to leave old challenges behind.
“Tired of getting beat by USC and Oregon. Don’t have to play them anymore,” joked one fan.
New home or not, fans think the Buffs are ready to come in and compete right away.
“Seven, eight wins, that’s what I said at the beginning of the year and I’m sticking with it,” said a fan.
