CHICAGO — Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood was hit hard by a storm Monday afternoon.

19th Ward Ald. Matt O’Shea said there are reports of about 30 trees down.

Latest warnings and watches from the National Weather Service.

One of them fell on a home near 103rd and Campbell.

The homeowner told WGN-TV she’s lived in the bungalow for 45 years and though they’ve had tree damage before, the damage from Monday’s storm takes the cake.

It smashed windows and broken pieces of the tile roof.

She said she was driving home at the time the big branches fell and was right around the corner. She said she missed it by about two minutes.

O’Shea said he responded to a scene just a few blocks away where a tree fell on a car while a man was driving. Luckily he is ok.

WGN-TV’s Weather Team said one of the strongest cells to move through the area Monday with gusts up to 50 mph.

Department of Streets and Sanitation crews will be working to clean up through the evening.
