Avon Eagles overpower Saint Ignatius Wildcats 42-21

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Friday Night Touchdown is back!

With more than 14,000 votes on FOX8.com, viewers — like always — picked a great Game of the Week to kick off this season: The Avon Eagles and Saint Ignatius Wildcats at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Avon wasted no time going right at the Wildcats’ defense. Cam Wendell broke off a 42-yard run and took it inside the red zone.

That would set up Wendell’s own touchdown, a 3-yard score, to give Avon a 7-0 lead.

And when Avon wasn’t running it, they were passing. Nolan Good rolled away from trouble and fired to Cole Kepner, who had it at the 31-yard line.

His name might be Good, but he did something great on Friday. Good threaded the needle to Ty Beerbohm to make it 14-nothing Eagles.

They weren’t done. After Good took it to the 10-yard line, Owen Rittenhouse powered it in from 2 yards out and it’s all Avon 42-21.
