Charlotte Hornets sideline reporter Ashley ShahAhmadi announced on various social media platforms that she will no longer serve as sideline reporter for Hornets games this upcoming season.

ShahAhmadi joined the broadcast six years ago as Stephanie Ready transitioned out of that role and into one with national networks. She now works NBA games with NBATV and TNT. ShahAhamdi is taking a different route. She’s taken on a gig as a sideline reporter for college football on ESPN along with a number of other ESPN events.
This is sad but not terribly surprising news. Ashley is very good at her job and always seemed destined to work for a national network at some point. Speculation that the time was coming increased when Eric Collins had a very sappy farewell at the end of a Hornets late season game back in April. He seemingly talked about Ashley’s time with the broadcast as if it were coming to a conclusion. While they tried to play it off, it seems they knew the sideline reporter was off to bigger and better things.
As far as we know Eric Collins and Dell Curry will still be calling Hornets games on Bally or whatever happens with the local market NBA broadcasts this season. We’ll probably hear about a new sideline reporter as the season draws near, or they’ll just spring them on us with hardly an announcement like they’ve done with halftime analysts the last few years.
