CLEVELAND (WJW) — A Lakewood mother who pleaded guilty to stabbing the father of her toddler in December was sentenced Thursday to two years of probation, according to prosecutors.
Ariel Monae Walters, 30, of Cleveland, pleaded guilty last month to felony counts of assault and endangering children.
Walters was accused of stabbing her husband, who is the girl’s father, in a Lakewood park on Christmas Eve, then taking the girl. A warrant for attempted aggravated murder was issued.
The incident prompted a statewide Amber Alert and a dayslong search for the mother and her 1-year-old girl. Walters turned herself in to police days later. The girl was returned unharmed.
Walters’ plea deal included reduced charges. On Thursday, a judge sentenced her to two years of probation, with domestic violence supervision, according to the county prosecutor’s office.
If she violates probation, she’ll face four years in prison.
