Press Release

updated: Feb 27, 2018

Bullying is an epidemic in schools today, but Port Arthur ISD is taking the lead in ensuring students’ and parents’ concerns don’t go unnoticed. The 100 percent anonymous reporting tool allows students to ‘See Something, Do Something’, and encourages students to report on bullying, cyber bullying, harassment, dating violence, school threats, drug/alcohol usage, and other issues to school officials.

Port Arthur ISD, known for its college-ready school curriculum, is preparing students for new opportunities and teaching them to encourage the best out of one another. Superintendent, Dr. Mark Porterie is expanding on these ideals by introducing this new communications platform to further provide a safer learning environment for the district. Utilizing Anonymous Alerts will give students more power to help each other by standing up for their peers.

At Port Arthur ISD, we always seek to broaden our safety tools, communication channels and opportunities to help students have a successful future. Anonymous Alerts allows us to continue the pursuit of this mission by helping our students report any of their concerns to school officials without fear of retribution from their peers.

“At Port Arthur ISD, we always seek to broaden our safety tools, communication channels and opportunities to help students have a successful future. Anonymous Alerts allows us to continue the pursuit of this mission by helping our students report any of their concerns to school officials without fear of retribution from their peers,” said Dr. Porterie, Superintendent.

The Anonymous Alerts App can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Chrome Store and students can access for free using a simple activation code provided by the District. Students can also access the Anonymous Alerts web-button located on the District’s website to submit a web-based report. Report submitters can attach a picture, video or screenshot to the incident and have the option to reveal their identity or remain anonymous. Anonymous Alerts includes a “Help and Resource” section containing web links about bullying, harassment and mental health subjects. Monitoring hours for the system will be during school days between the hours of 7-5 p.m.

“We are excited to partner with Port Arthur ISD and help their students to report safety concerns quickly to school officials,” said T. Gregory Bender, President & CEO of Anonymous Alerts, LLC.
