CLEVELAND (WJW) — For five years, the reimagined Ohio City Pizzeria on Lorain Avenue has been slinging thick pies and keeping folks in the neighborhood well fed. But now, they’re choosing to shut their doors.

“Despite our best efforts and unwavering dedication by countless people, the challenges we’ve faced over the past few years have proven insurmountable,” the nonprofit business said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

Owned by the West Side Catholic Center, the spot helped employ people from various center programs and also was integral to its Culinary Academy.

“Although we must now close our doors, the spirit of community you helped foster will remain a cherished part of our story,” Executive Director Michael Bernot wrote.

The last day of business is Saturday, Aug. 10.
