In the latest episode of our Big Fits YouTube series, GQ’s fashion director-at-large Mobolaji Dawodu and fashion director Josh Peskowitz find out if two individual big fits can make one collective—and even bigger—couple fit. When Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, as two fashion icons in their own right, bring their style together the result is almost always huge.
Dawodu and Peskowitz rank five of the couple’s best fashion moments: the 2022 Fenty Beauty & Skin Launch, a music video shoot, the 2021 Met Gala, the Gucci x Adidas Presentation in Milan and the 2019 London Fashion Awards. The fits are ranked based on how well they stand alone, but more importantly, how well they compliment each other. As Dawodu says, “they match each other’s energy, it’s crazy.” There are rules to dressing as an individual and rules to dressing as a couple, but as the couple’s 2021 Met Gala moment makes evident, these rules don’t apply to everyone. “You’ve got to know the rules to break the rules,” says Peskowitz. “No, you have to be fly to break the rules,” responds Dawodu.
