Amadeus’ booking recovery rate dipped slightly in the third quarter compared with the previous quarter, although revenue recovery continued an upward trajectory, the company reported.

Total distribution system bookings hit 99.8 million in the quarter, 71.7 percent of bookings in the third quarter of 2019. That is 3.5 percentage points below the recovery rate of the second quarter, according to Amadeus.

However, revenue per booking improved during the quarter. Air distribution revenue was €573.1 million (US$557.7 million), 80.7 percent of 2019 levels and a 1.8 percentage-point improvement from the second quarter. Bookings in North America outpaced 2019 levels by 2.3 percent, and Amadeus noted that the Asia/Pacific region saw the highest volume improvement as markets reopened in the region.

“We continue to see a lot of recovery still to happen,” Amadeus president and CEO Luis Maroto said in an earnings call. “Airline industry capacity is not at 2019 levels yet, and airlines remain upbeat about the next quarters and optimistic about corporate travel.”

Amadeus’ Air IT Solutions revenue for the quarter was €439.1 million, just over 80 percent of 2019 levels, as the company reported total passengers boarded hit 83.5 percent of 2019 levels during the quarter. That was an improvement of 5.9 percentage points compared with the second quarter, and Amadeus said all regions improved except Latin America in that metric.

Revenue for Amadeus Hospitality and other solutions has nearly fully recovered to 2019 levels, totaling €204.8 million in the quarter.

Amadeus reported a profit of €202.7 million for the quarter, up from a profit of €9 million in the third quarter of 2021.
