Voting for Phase 5 of the Lok Sabha Elections is taking place today in Maharashtra. Various Bollywood stars turned up at polling booths to vote and superstar Akshay Kumar was among the celebrities spotted in the city. The actor is casting his vote for the first time as an Indian citizen and was seen smiling and flaunting the indelible ink mark on his finger.
During an interaction with the media at the polling location, Akshay said, “I want my India to be developed and strong. I voted keeping that in mind. People should vote for what they deem is right. I think voter turnout will be good. I was here at 7 am when the polling booth opened and I saw nearly 500-600 people inside.”

When asked if he waited in line to cast his vote, Akshay gave a hilarious reply and said, “So what should I do? Break the line and move ahead?” About casting his first vote as an Indian citizen, Akshay said, “I feel great, amazing.”
Over the years, Akshay’s citizenship has remained a talking point among fans and media and has brought a lot of backlash to the actor but on Independence Day last year, he made an interesting announcement and revealed that he had given up his Canadian citizenship and is officially an Indian citizen.
