PORTLAND, Oregon — Highest wind gust at PDX over the weekend was Saturday when the wind spiked at 47 mph. Winds eased last night and we have a quiet start to our Monday with radar showing a few scattered showers in the region.
Our next cold front arrives early this evening. Steady rain will fall across the region much of this afternoon and gusty winds will return late day as front approaches. Coast wind gusts of 40-50 mph are expected and valley southwest winds may jump to 35 or 40 mph. Rain breaks into showers Tuesday with 1.50″ of total rainfall at the coast and closer to .75″ in the valley.
A High Wind Watch along the coast is up until 9:00 pm this evening for possible 60 mph wind gusts.
A Winter Weather Advisory continues today for the Cascades with daytime snow levels near 4,000 feet. The Cascades could see about 6-10″ of snow over the next 48 hours at pass level with amounts near and above 5,000 feet approaching 20 inches of snow.
Rain ends Tuesday night as high pressure will move in bringing us sunshine and warmer temperatures through the weekend. Portland could see the first 70 degree day of 2024 on Friday and stay near 70 this weekend.
