Londolozi has always been at the forefront of the luxury safari experience. It starts with the extravagance and uniqueness of our rooms, each designed to offer privacy and ultimate comfort in the midst of breathtaking natural surroundings. It extends to the decks, the heart and soul of each of our five camps, each one different, each one spectacular. The culinary offerings are a highlight, with menus featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients and a variety of international and African-inspired dishes, prepared and presented to you by any combination of our 240-odd family members.
And then you find yourself in the African bush, experiencing nature in all her splendour. This is why you came here; this is why you travelled all this way. And it is beautiful, just as beautiful as you had hoped, more so. Your Guide and Tracker team direct your attention here in there, weaving each thread of the natural world into a fine tapestry. And as you learn and experience more of this incredible landscape you may realise you want to capture it in even greater detail, so as to keep those memories as vivid as the day you experienced them, even through the obscuring mists of time.
Every drive has the potential to be life-changing.
And that is where the photographic studio comes into play. Now, many may arrive with all the gear they need; that may be anything from an iPhone, to a handy point-and-shoot, to a Canon R5 mirrorless camera with a fixed 600mm f/4.0 and sundries. But for many, the photographic studio allows them to capture the highlights of their safari in exquisite detail, all with the helping hand of their very own trained photographic guide. The studio houses all manner of gear, from relatively simple but still very effective standard kits – Either a Canon 7Dii with 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 lens or a Nikon D750 with 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 lend – to top-of-the-range equipment such as our Nikon fixed 400mm f/2.8 or the canon 600mm f/4.0 lenses, both of which produce incredibly crisp detail in an image.
You can then return to the photographic studio after a delicious breakfast to join either your guide (or a studio manager) in an editing session where they will run through the fundamentals of using Adobe Lightroom, our preferred editing software, to fine-tune those already incredible images and add that professional touch.
And finally, you have the option to lay your art, or the art you have chosen to paper; either canvas (my personal preferred medium) or glossy (which also definitely has its place) and these will be rolled up into a sleek and safe cardboard tube ready for you to take home or if you prefer, can be shipped anywhere in the world for you.
And for those who perhaps may have just missed capturing that precious moment, or are just looking for something that they feel captures the essence of is this incredible landscape, or just want something beautiful for their homes, then there is the Fine Arts Website; a stunning collection of our favourite images, captured by myriad guides over the years, and collated into an array of galleries that we encourage you to browse through. You can create your own galleries and like your favourite images. And all of these are available for sale, to download straight to your computer or phone or have printed here on-site and shipped to your door. Upon opening the page the opening gallery is this month’s editor’s favourite pics. Below that are several curated galleries in various styles. Feel free to explore these but also explore using the search bar to look for specific animals or situations. And remember to click “Purchasable only” in order to find the real gems in this treasure-trove of imagery!
All of the above photos and so many more are available on the website.
There are a plethora of ways for you to capture your safari experience here at Londolozi and we can’t wait to have you here to choose whichever suits you.
