1. As Roman mythology and legend state, it is believed that Rome was founded in 735 BC. What started as a small settlement has gradually transformed into the powerful city that it is today. Rome became part of the country of Italy in 1870, and after a year it became the capital city. 
2. There is still so much of Ancient Rome that has not been excavated yet. The whole city, which is 30 feet below the modern street level, is yet to be explored, studied, and understood.
3. Paris is the official twin city of Rome, and it is as exclusive as it can get. It is solidified by the saying “Only Paris is worthy of Rome; only Rome is worthy of Paris.” The two have a long history of partnership and collaboration.
4. There is a country that is found inside Rome. The Vatican City, the place of residence of the Pope, is an independent country. It is only 44 hectares small, making it the smallest country in the world. Vatican City is located on the west bank of the River Tiber.
5. Aside from a country, there is also a small inhabited city in Rome. The Isola Tiberina or Tiber Island is only 270 meters long. One of the fascinating places you can find here is the 16th-century hospital called the Fatebenefratelli.
6. There are laws that protect the cats that are living in Rome. One of them states that if a group of at least five felines are living together in a natural habitat, they are allowed to stay.
